In reply to how to install carpet on stairs? by Diane Silvio on October 18th, 2003 07:54 PM [Go to top of thread]

I bought an oriental runner that I would like to install on my stairs. I have 2 landings where I will have to cut and match the rug pattern. I am unable to find a website for advice on how to go about matching seams where stairs meet the landings. I think I should run each section of runner leaving plenty of material overlapping from the runner up from the bottom stair and the runner down from the bottom of the top section in order to match the pattern. While they are overlapping match the pattern, cut each piece of runner where they will be seamed with a carpet knife, then glue the seam with carpet tape and an iron.

If there is any site where this installation is clearly explained please share it with me.

Thanks,

Jim Pacella
