We have encountered the same problem in our house, whenever we run the washer and have the heat on at the same time, a foul sewage smell fills the entire downstairs portion of our house. We can't identify the source and have checked all vents, p-traps and lines all the way out to the tank, to the extent of tearing out walls, running camera through the lines and water down the vents.
If anyone has found a solution, please let us know.
