I do honestly appreciate the help. My wife is nagging me to death about it especially since I am a computer guy and could not possibly know something about anything else. hehe.

This is my best assumption. Whomever installed this unit (the house is 6 years old and we have only lived here for a year or so) has the drain from the furnace/AC connected with the drain from the relief valve on the hot water tank...this then is converted to an even smaller PVC pipe?? which then goes directly outside. We noticed a leak with the hot water tank where the copper meets the PVC last winter but have not noticed the water on the furnace until last night.

The conversion from between the pipe sizes has me conerned for the mere fact that there is no way that the relief valve on the hot water tank is going to trickle. It is goign to put out a lot of water and the smaller pipe is about the size of your pinky...I am guessing either this is causing some sort of back up or there is a clog or the pipe outside is just plain frozen..

Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
