I wouldn't be too concerned with #2 vs. #3. Barring any glaring through-board loose knots or knot holes, it should still hold up fine.
The big question is "how do they look?" If you're happy with the appearance and the installer's work is guaranteed for workmanship for a limited time, you should have no problem.
