So NOW they tell me about why furnaces in modern heating systems have ductwork and blowers. Stoves have the charm of heating your body by direct radiant heat. Turn it into a furnace in the basement and it is no better than any cheap furnace. Cut a big enough hole in the floor above the stove and you get the heat up there (and any fire that comes along in the future.)
