My recommendation comes with a big warning.

Anytime you option a blower and a woodstove, a fire or smoke will rage through your house like a pine tree should anything go wrong.

Here in Minnesota last week, we lost 3 young boys to a house fire caused by a woodstove that got plugged up in the chimney. The fire marshall hasn't said more than that. How a chimney can get plugged is besides me...

Given my strong warning. You could consider cutting a hole in the floor and installing a blower. Make sure the blower is a 200 CFM minimum. Make sure you have interwired smoke detectors in the house. Make sure you understand that people usually have no more than 2 minutes to get out of a house that fills with smoke. From the moment a child awakes from a smoke alarm until they are rendered unable to see from a smoke filled room can be less than 30 seconds. Make sure your stovepipes are screwed together. Make sure you have combustion air from the outside for the room with the stove or for the stove itself.

Woodstoves are serious business, putting it in the basement is probably the biggest problem. I'd also consider moving it to the more common living areas.
