In reply to How to level a house by Loran on May 7th, 2000 02:30 PM [Go to top of thread]

I have purchased a historic 20's home.
It is off grade and needs to be leveled.
I am not a bank so I intend to do it myself.
I understand I should go to the highest point mark it and bring everything up to this level.
For this I am buying two twenty ton jacks. I will protect the frame by using something to distribute the wgt evenly as I jack it up, and use metal plates to shim. The thing I do not understand is how to use a water level. Iknow water seeks its own level but I just have have an idea of how to start, how to use the level.
