Carol,

It will be VERY expensive. You'll have to get a bigger HVAC system and have major structural improvements done as well. The existing roof will have to go and the new roof will need to be 'peaked'. Will this 'change' put you out-of-character with the rest of the neighborhood/area in which you live? If so, you'll never recoup the investment.
