True and Sears doesn't make their own products so the OP would have to determine who did using the appliance's model number.
You can find tips for locating the model number of your appliances and a list of who makes what Kenmore model in the 'Repair Parts' section of my site linked below.
F1 most often indicates a problem in the electronic control but can also mean a problem in the control's keypad or even a bad oven sensor.
The first thing to try is unplugged the range/oven for a minute or 2 to see if that clears the fault or not. If not, you've got some checking to do.
The oven sensor and wiring circuit should be tested to make sure it's Ok. The most common oven sensors should be in the area of 1100 ohms when at room temperature.
If the sensor circuit is Ok but still the error persists, unplugging the keypad from the control (if possible) and seeing if the code returns or not. If it does, you can be pretty sure the problem is in the electronic control itself which would than need to be replaced. If not, the cause may just be the control's keypad.
On some range models the keypad and control are one integral part and if there's a problem in either, the whole electronic control would have to be replaced if the fault isn't in the sensor circuit.
