Removing high gloss stain from bedroom furniture

Hi, I hate dusting! It seems that no matter how often I dust it just comes back within hours. I know what your thinking, maybe we need to look into getting a filter. Well we've done that. The point is I'm not crazy about the high gloss cherry stain (cherry wood) on my bedroom furniture. It was a wedding gift from my parents. What I would like to achieve is a very, very low luster, if that, more like a matted look. Is that the right term? Matted? Please keep in mind the pieces are very large, it's an 8 piece set.
