i have two newel post's the first one looks like a bunch of peices of wood glued toghether and it is attached to our cement floor it has wood surrounding it (no basement) i would like to know how it is attached, and how i could replace it.

secondly, the other one is on the second floor, it has hardwood floors around it and i would like to know how to replace that. and how it is attached.
