What sticks to silicon caulk

Our tub surround has been sealed with silicon caulk and now we want to "pretty it up" with a pre-manufactured tub flexible trim. Our problem is that it needs to be adhered over the existing caulk and the sticky backing does not stick! What will? Please help - I have not been able to use this shower for a week! (We do have another shower in our house!)
