Dry wall edge finishing

I have a new puppy that eats everything. He has taken a liking to the corner of my kitchen wall and has licked the drywall edge down to the metal flange. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this and is there anything I can use to keep the puppy from re-licking this area? Thanks.
