silestone chipping problem

just got my Silestone counters at the end of December. Because of other redecorating going on in the kitchen, it was a couple more weeks before I had the chance to really start using them. I immediately discovered several chips--one in the countertop itself and two on the backsplashes. I called the installer and they came and fixed them. However, the man said the main chip--in the center of the counter, was "too small to use epoxy" to fill. I don't understand the consequences of NOT using epoxy anyway. Well, he filled it in--I thought he'd coated the white chip with something to smooth it out like the rest of the counter, but I realize now I was feeling the wrong place when he had me check his work. Instead, the white chip spot now has a black coating, but it still feels rough to the touch. So...Is this NORMAL? Can't they do any better than that? How will that chip wear over time since that is in the middle of the work area?
