cedar siding turning black

Hi! Our house is 4 years old and we have cedar siding. We put the smooth side out and used Behr transparent stain, I think pine tint. Our house has gotten darker and darker and black in some places. Our neighbors put the rough side out and used cuprinol, their house looks great! Now that we have done what we have done, Is there any way to lighten it up? Would power washing do anything? And then what should we put on? THANKS!!! Lee
