I'd suggest adding some dirt all around your house to where the foundation meets the ground. You want the ground to slope down away from your house so that water won't seep between your foundation and into your basement. I've seen houses that had frequent problems with water in the basement, which were cured or greatly minimized by sloping the ground at the foundation.
