Oven light switch

** My GE electric oven has a light bulb inside. ... now it won't turn off when I close the oven door **

There is a switch (possibly mounted on the front frame of the oven) which the door comes into contact with to shut the light off when the door comes into contact with it. Other models have the switch inside the range and just a long plunger which makes contact with the door and switch.

It is likely that the switch is defective (shorted contacts) or the plunger (if used) has gotten out of adjustment or bent, etc. and needs to be looked into and possibly replaced.
