A firestop is a square piece of sheet metal with a round hole in the center. It is used where round metal chimney stack penetrates ceilings or roof lines, and holds the stack at the required clearance from combustible surfaces. It is available in various sizes to fit double and triple wall flue pipe of different diameters. Installation requires disconnecting a section of flue pipe and sliding the collar in place around the pipe and securing it against the roof penetration. The difficult part is separating the section of flue where you want to insert the firestop. Is a reasonable DIY project if you have access. Take pipe outside diameter measurements to a fireplace store or building center where wood stoves are sold. Also, search chimney firestop on the internet.
