I have just completed the first walk through inspection of my new home. On second glance of the basement I found (behind 8-10 window screens) a 6 inch patched hole leaking in the basement (eye level) and a couple of feet away I found a puddle of water(a gallon or so) which appeared to be swelling from under the floor. Why were the screens there? Is the builder trying to hide the leak? What should I do? Call the county inspectors? Trust that my builder will repair the leak before settlement and closing? What measures (legally) can I take now to insure the future dryness of my new NV Home?
