GFA Diagnosis UPDATE - Calling All Experts

Posted by Chilly In Indiana on February 11th, 2004 05:35 AM

OK... Thx Harold and Furnace Whiz! Called the local Tech - he replaced the igniter(? The thingy that glows to light the burners)
Currently 6AM and once again "CHILLY!
Here's more info:
Older GOODMAN furace prob 50,000 BTU or so - Sears program T-Stat set to HOLD TEMP - T-Stat calls for heat - T-stat ON light GLOWS - Furnace gas exhaust fan comes on but quits - may try to turn on again but will quit again. This is an intermittant behavior. When I turn OFF power to furnace for 5 min or so - like computer re-boot - on restart furnace exhaust fan, burners and blower fan all function in sequence. Then after a short while, burners will shut down. With blower fan working - ehaust fan will cycle on and off a few time before the igniter glows and the burners once gain fire up. Seems gas exhaust fan cycling has something to do with my problem. There's my story and I'm sticking to it!
