One of the most important parts of a new concrete pour is the curing process. It is important for concrete to cure slowly to develop maximum strength. Concrete should not dry out, it needs to cure which is a chemical reaction process.
The "clear cure" tends to seal in the moisture and allow the concrete to cure properly. This is good, but it sounds like the cost is way out of line (100's of dollars) An alternative is to cover the concrete with plastic for a minimum of 5 days after it is poured and set up enough to walk on. 28 days would be ideal, but 5 will work.
Then, if you want to apply some other type of sealer you can, but it is not absolutely necessary.
Good Luck!
