Floor Tile

PC says it all pretty well. To expand on that, you need 1/2" tile underlayment under ceramic tile on a floor. You might get by laying that over vinyl but I sure wouldn't guarantee it.
Any tile rated for floor use should work. The smooth glossy tiles are generally not rated for floors.
