Its better not to. There are many alternatives for renovating or replacing counters. Paint is a film product that is poorly suited for most counter applications. It can be done, but it is not a long-term solution, and alternatives like tile or replacement laminate are better.
Anyway, what kind of counters do you have, condition, issues etc, and do they have radius or square edges? Why do you want to paint rather than replace or resurface?
