My house was built around the year 1935. I recently pulled up the carpet in the living area to inspect the hardwood flooring underneath. I discovered that the floor seemed to be in very good condition and thought about having it refinished. I first decided to have a little foundation work done to help support the house more. They replaced some beams that were bad and added some new piers. After they finished they informed me that there is no subfloor underneath the hardwood. I am now considering using this existing floor as the subfloor and installing some type of hardwood flooring on top of it. I will be installing it myself. What types of flooring are out there that I can chose from? I would like at least the top part of the new flooring to be wood. I don't think I can afford the cost of the new floor to be all wood. Also I could use some tips on installation. Can you help? Thanks!!
