I have three window wells in the back of my brick house. My house is at the bottom of a hill. During heavy rains, the water pours down the hill into my window wells. As expected they fill with water and the water leaks in through my glass block windows and down the dryer vent which is located in one of the glass block windows.
I had a french drain installed to catch the water pouring down the hill and put covers on the window wells. The drain is catching the water pouring down the hill but the wells are still filling with water even with covers over the wells. It seems that the rain water or melting snow stays on the patio and drains into the wells.
I have no problems with water coming down my gutters or downspouts (I checked those first hoping it was an easy problem to fix).
I have a cement patio area in the back of the house by the window wells. I have been told that the cement is sloping toward the house and directs the water to my window wells. I have also been told that to fix this I need to direct the water away from the house.
Is there a way to fix this without installing a drain the cement or tearing up the cement?
