I am getting ready to carpet my basement. I would really like to use padding and the place I am going to hire to lay the carpet uses 8lb pad. I plan on using a commmercial type berber. Talking to some people they recommend not using pad, due to possible water problems and it picking up a musty order. My basement so far is very dry, but only been there 2 years. Just some suggestions, please.
