I have not seen any refernce to linoleum containing asbestos. I believe this should be taken into consideration. I removed this type of flooring twice. Once on a wood subfloor and once on concrete. Both times I had it tested for asbestos content. Both times it tested positive. When I removed the linoleum I first scored it with a utility knife and then when I scraped it off I wetted it down with water to help keep fibers from becoming air borne. While this makes the job fairly messy it might aleviate any health concerns. It also is a very labor intense job but when the job is finished with new flooring it is very satisfying. My projects were finished with tile on the wood subfloor and new linoleum on the concrete floor. After 20 and 6 years these floors still look like new.
