clothes dryer vent Posted by Gus Bali on February 18th, 2004 01:12 AM
I am planning on putting washer & dryer on the second floor of my two story house. Have a great location with the proper water supply/drain in place. But I really, really need some suggestions how to handle the vent for the dryer. My first (obviously very naive) thought was to pipe it just simply to the attic....it's hot there anyway, a little more heat would'nt harm anything (LOL)
Called the City Building Inspectors, they shot me down very quick: "no way, you have to vent to the outside".
OK...so I will cut a hole on the roof, and started buying the stuff (aluminum vent pipes, etc), then the guys at Home Depot (very helpful) explained: "no way, you have too long vertical distance for expelling the lint, and that is just to invite fire hazard" (there is a total of 11 feet from the dryer output to the hole on the roof)
Please, Pretty Please...does anybody have a suggestion? Is 11 feet vertically really too long? If so, what can I do?
Thanks for any input!!!!!
P.S. Honestly I would rather not have it, but the WIFE WANTS IT. (all you married guys understand me, I am sure) Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
