Painting / Antiquing cabinets

Yes there is a difference between antiquing and distressing- in my opinion.

Distressing involves painting your cabinets prefereable with a semi gloss paint. Wait for them to cure, then sand off the paint in corners and edges this allows the original wood to show through. Cover the exposed areas with a stain or sealant.

Anitiquing on the other hand is what I did to my kitchen cabinets. I painted them an cream color then purchased Ralph Lauren Glaze in a Tea STain color and painted it on the cabinets with a brush. I allowed it to pool or gather in the corners and then wiped off the excess with a cheesecloth. This gives it an aged look, which is really popular right now.
