THe bang you heard was probably the main B+ filter cap popping because of a power surge or
HV problem. Its not something you can fix unless you are familiar with tv repair. They run at high voltages and can kill you. Take it too a repiar shop. It should cost under $100.00 if not then take it somewhere else because they are trying to rip you off.
