If you are installing tile directly on concrete,there is no need to use an underlayment.If the tile you are installing is on concrete and there are noticeble cracks in this surface.......you need to use an isolation membrane on these cracks.The reason being is that the crack will end up moving thru the tile.The isolation membrane I use is Tec Triple flex.With this membrane,the floor crack if it moves will then move thru to the grout joint and won't crack the tile.If you have any questions on this item,contact a Tile store that carries a line of products for Tile installiation.Good Luck
