Kitchen wiring

I plan on remodeling my kitchen and know for a fact that the existing wiring will not meet todays code. For example, neither the microwave or the fridge are on dedicated circuits and the small appliance circuits(countertop) are part of runs that service several other rooms as well. My plans do not include relocating any of the appliances, just replacing them with new models - should I or MUST I bring the wiring in the room to code or can I continue to use this system that has worked all these years? Thanks.
