You did not say but I suspect you have copper pipes and it's the hot water that does it. Copper has a good coefficent of expansion and it is normal for it to expand. The plumber has the pipe tight up against a 2x4 somewhere and it pops as it moves. It will not burst because of it but it will do it until you demolish the house.
