Worst is the round things you push into the downspout - they keep the downspout clear but the gutter still stops up.
Haven't tried the leaf shedding kind that curls the water.
The best of the screens type turns out to be plastic with swiss cheese holes *AND* a fine mesh. It actually sheds the leaves and elm seeds whereas the aluminum screens let the seeds stick in the holes. HOWEVER!! any screen type will still let shingle grit drop thru so you STILL need to hose the gutters out once a year.
$2000?? DIY for a few dollars a foot.
