2 way air flow vs straight out

I have looked for solid brass "2 way deflector" wall registers for sometime now, and have given up. Finally found a site(www.atlantasupply.com)that has ones that look like the ones I have, but they're not 2 way deflectors. All the air flow comes straight out. Has a good damper of course, that adjusts the up and down air flow as you want it. My Town Home is approximately 850 sq ft. I'm just wondering what the difference would be in heating and air conditioning. Straight out air flow vs 2 diagonal air flow. Would it really be that much of a difference.
