Spongy Walls

Posted by Norm A on February 25th, 2004 09:04 AM

I noticed that two tiles right below the tub faucet (the part that fills the tub) are very soft indicating that water has gotten behind there. I also noticed that there is a small gap between the faucet and the tiles. Should there be caulking or plumbers putty around that faucet? If so, what is the easiest way to remove the faucet from the wall without damaging the tiles? I want to seal up that gap between the faucet and the tile because I believe that is the source of the problem.
