I am purchasing a new home still under construction. The home has a crwal space. The builder does not want to insulate the floor above the crawl space. The builder advises insulating the floor will allow moisture to be held in the insulation and will allow mildew and mold to form. Home is in Limestone County Alabama. We are outside of any city limits, but I called the Decatur, Al building inspecter. He advised the city code required insulating the floor. I called the Athens, Al building inspector and he advised not insulate. He advised his house has insulation in the floor above the crawl space and he now has mold problems. I am totally confused. can you please advise me on this subject. The contract I signed with the builder calls for insulation.
Thanks,
