Not only that, but the brass ones are for floor registers. I did just what you propose. Looked good for about 2 weeks. Then started looking crappy (paint discolorings, showing dark spots, looking splotchy, etc) I primed and repainted some, then after the paint cured, topcoated with spray high gloss polyurathane. Been 2 years and still looks fantastic. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
