Johnny, sounds like you had great success. I'm still going to continue my search for the real thing. There has to be 2 way deflector type solid brass wall registers somewhere in the world. I found some, but they are not the 2 way deflector type(a total bummer). They are, solid brass, and have multi shutters with a damper for up and down air flow, but all the air flow comes straight out. Not deflected diagonally in 2 directions. Keep thinking if I get the those, the non deflected air flow will blow into my vertical blinds too much, plus "without" 2 way, you just don't get the distribution of air like you would straight out. May still end up with your spray painting technique though. Thanks.
