Do you mean tackstrip? or tackless? Depends on the thickness of the carpet, Usually 3/8" to 1/2". Do you have ALL the tools to do the install? Razor knife, knee kicker or power stretcher, seaming iron, tucking chisel, long straight edge, staple gun and so on ? If not it will cost more to rent the tools than it would to have it installed by a pro.
