vinyl/plastic shed for DRY storage??

Posted by Michael on February 27th, 2004 11:36 AM

I'd really like to try using a vinyl shed to store some comic books and a
few antiques from the house. However, reviewing various web archives, I keep
reading about folks experiencing moisture problems with equivalent sized
METAL sheds (interestingly, there has been almost nothing mentioned about VINYL sheds though). So,
I'm wondering about the possibility of using a vinyl shed? What experiences
regarding moisture have folks had? If moisture is a problem with vinyl
sheds, what steps have been or can be taken to reduce or eliminate moisture
problems? I don't mind spending a little extra if I can eliminate moisture
troubles. My first solution was to simply buy one of those small 5000 btu air conditioners/heaters on wheels, set the thermostat, and put it in the shed along with my articles. However, with just the vinyl as an insulator, how much electricity would be used?

Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike
