We recently moved into a new construction that has a Trane gas furnace. Cold air is drawn in from the top of the furnace. There should have been a filter door installed between the penum and the furnace. Unfortunately, the heating company is now out of business (big suprise!). There were no filters for the cold air intakes either. The local gas provider stopped by and recommended that we have a filter installed. How difficult is it to cut into the penum to mount the filter and create an access door? We have very young children at home so I would like to do this asap.
