We built a new home, put in a new well, water heater, well tank, and water softner. We get a "rotten egg" smell from both the hot and cold water that runs through the water softner only. We have a "hard" water line that comes directly from the well tank (by-passes the water heater and softner), which has NO odor. The whole system is only about six months old and the plumber is baffled.
Could the water softner be making this smell? Can I correct it with different salt (I use Morton's yellow bag now)? Help? thanks.
