We are getting ceramic tile layed in our kitchen. I have read and seen several opinions on whether I need to take up a vinyl tile which is down solid. Ihave been told that it is not necessary that they would use a heavier thinset with latex to float it and that there would be no problem putting the ceramic over it.
Then I have been told that it absolutely needs to be taken up. If I have to remove it what is the best way to do this and what is the prep after it is removed?
