I have the same issue everyone here did with removing caulk from tubs. I used a razor blade (works great-but killed my shoulder!) until I called the DAP hotline. They have a product called Caulk B Gone, worked GREAT to loosen the caulk! Said to leave on for 2 hours-I left it on overnight (on my second try) with the bathroom door shut due to fumes. Is not appropriate for all types, doesn't work for 100% Silicone. It took off my GE Silicone II partial silicone caulk though. Also not appropriate for some tub surrounds or vinyl. Read the back of the tuble carefully!

But I ran out, and got a different product from Liquid Nails that I liked even better, it clung much better to the caulk. I have learned not to be stingy - and cover ALL the caulk residue with gel, and let it sit overnight. After scraping with a paint scraper I wiped down with acetone (nail polish remover) to get rid of the black marks on my white porcelain tub and tile. I then used 100% bleach wipe down to kill any mold. You need to let everything dry THROUGHLY before you recaulk. I recommed overnight and then even use a hairdryer to get the drips you can't see. If there is any moisture your caulk will not adhere. Or will adhere for a few months and start to peel off, and you will have to do it all over again. Guess why I know this. So - caulk up (not too much!) and use a wet finger to smooth, and voila! GOOD LUCK!!! My caulk has been good for 4 months and I feel GREAT everytime I take a shower!
