When our dog was a pup and first adapting to his crate, our vet told us that if the crate was too big, our dog would not have a problem urinating in it. If the crate is just big enough for the dog to turn around comfortably they are less likely to urinate in their sleeping area. It worked for us, we sectioned off a part of the crate with cardboard until Bundy grew into it. I do not know the situation you are in (size of crate v. size of dog). Just thought I'd add my 2 cents.
