below grade electrical

I have installed a grease pit in my garage. I ran electrical conduit into the pit hoping that I could put in an electrical box. With electricity in the pit I wouldn't have to worry so much about light and the wires that are necessary. Unfortunately the electricians tell me I need an "explosion proof box," more accurately an "explosion proof duplex receptacle and cover." I suppose I could stop in at any one of the electrical supply stores in Albuquerque and beat the bushes, but I'd prefer to have intelligent questions when I get there. I've been told these electrical boxes are expensive, so I'd also like to surf the web and find what I need at a decent price.

Can you please tell me exactly what I need, if you are privy to the knowledge where I can find it, and whether my electricians concerns are well based.

Thank You Very Much,
Daryl Mhoon
