This is the same thing that I've been wondering. I've been thinking of using beadboard to cover the ugly popcorn and give my house a "country" look. Would I need to locate studs to nail into? Would it wind up looking even worse? I hate the thought of treating it as asbestos-containing and removing it all as a wet mush.
