Hi, Shiela. A couple of coats of either Rustoleum or Krylon spray paint will be a big help, but stick with one brand. The 2 paints mentioned are totally different.
If your furniture design allows, a light sanding and a coat of primer before you paint will help adhesion. If there is already rust anywhere, do sand that off before you paint.
