wiring electric water heater to fuse box

I have a 1974 Double Wide Mobile Home that has a Capri Long Life electric water heater. The water heater has a 30 amp circuit breaker run into the fuse box. When I moved the home, it also had wiring run to the outside main electric pole. Do I need to hook it up to the outside main electric pole again, or is there a way to have it run just to the fuse box?? ANY help would be very much appreciated!!
